ATTORNEY PROFILES

Bob is a founding member of our predecessor organized in 1996.  Over the past 40 years he has concentrated his professional career in real estate law, business practice, and real estate and commercial litigation.

His experience includes advising and representing sellers and purchasers in real estate transactions; individuals in the formation of business organizations for all types of business purposes; and litigating business, partnership, real estate and commercial matters.

Bob received his B.A from Northwestern University and his J.D. from DePaul College of Law.  He is a member of numerous professional organizations and recognized by his peers as an Illinois Leading Lawyer and an Illinois Super Lawyer.  Bob is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois, the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois. 

Gregory A. Bedell is an attorney with over 30 years of practice experience.  Admitted to practice in Illinois in 1985, Greg started his career with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission as a Staff Attorney in its Chicago Regional Office.  In 1987 he entered private practice and since then has devoted himself primarily to solving legal problems for small businesses and entrepreneurs.  Greg helped start many of the businesses he represents and has worked closely with them as they grew.  His clients truly see him as a counselor and not just their lawyer.

During his career, Greg has represented his clients in numerous matters involving local, state and Federal regulatory regimes and in general commercial litigation.   Greg also has considerable experience in appellate litigation and has been involved in precedent setting cases.   Among his achievements, Greg helped establish the “family business” aspect of the “extension telephone exemption” under Federal and Illinois state wiretapping law in the precedent setting case of Scheib v. Grant, 22 F.3d 149 (7th Cir, 1994).  And, in the case or Village of Wheeling v. Evanger’s Dog & Cat Food Co., 399 Ill.App.3d 304 (1st Dist. 2010), his work successfully challenged a judgment entered based on the improper imposition of a criminal sanction against his business client.  In less traditional settings, Greg helped to obtain a Presidential Pardon for a client who was seeking a position as a corporate officer for a publicly traded company.

In 2005, Greg and his family moved to Paris, France, where he taught constitutional and commercial law to French law students at  L'Institut d'études politiques de Paris (less formally known as “Science Po”), one of the five “Grand Écoles” of France.  Greg also taught at the international business school “ESSCA,” located in Angers, France, and L’Université de Cergy-Pointoise.  He returned to practice in Chicago in 2008.

Over the years Greg has volunteered his time to teach and provide pro bono legal assistance.   Working with the Constitutional Rights Foundation’s “Lawyers in the Classroom” program, Greg brought his passion for Constitutional law to middle school students in Chicago.  As a Panel Attorney with the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services organization he represented less fortunate individuals facing the challenges presented by drug abuse, debt and broken homes.   Greg received a Distinguished Service Award from the CVLS for his work.
